Basically, it's a WIP fixfic that I'M SURE WILL SOLVE ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! that's not right with FFXIII's ending. Oh, and Hope gets up-aged so that he and Lightning can hook up.

I mean, yeah, on the surface, it totally doesn't work, not to mention the ghastly specter of statutory rape. I blame Square Enix's constant underaging of our protagonists for this fact.

But on the other hand THEY TOTALLY GO TOGETHER PERFECTLY. And also: Lightning and Hope are really the odd-men-out when it comes to relationships in the game.

It does work, if you ask me. Of course, there has to be some major, major execution in order to make it work, otherwise it's creepy and out of character.

They are kinda odd-men-out, aren't they? I hadn't really thought about it. Of course, that might just be because I'm not much of a shipper, but when I am, I'm sort of equal opportunity? The only things I really don't ship are Fang/Lightning and Sazh/Snow and Sazh/Hope. Everything else is kinda fair game for me. :) (Barring hella creepy stuff like Nabaat/Dajh... D: D: D: D: Okay. I just freaked myself out XD)

I meant my "totally doesn't work" more or less in reference to their age difference, but then I reiterated the point and made it sound like there was some other reason that they don't work as a couple, which isn't true at all. The only other objection I could think of was "maturity level", but that's not fair. Both characters greatly mature over the course of the game: Lightning becomes less solitary and angry, and Hope takes so many levels of badass that it should be illegal.

Shipping Dajh with anyone is just plain wrong. The kid is six! That's... that's terrible.

I'd ship Fang/Lightning. They're both warrior women with emotional attachment issues and a perchance for violence. It helps that Fang/Vanille never really clicked for me—they seem at such different places in their lives that I couldn't see them as equal partners in their relationship. I do see that with Fang/Lightning.

And I pretty much don't ship Sazh with anyone but Nabaat.

There is no love for Sazh. I would have even thought Vanille/Sazh and Lightning/Sazh would be somewhat popular... but FFXIII is kinda like the Wicked fandom in that it's kinda all about the femslash, with the splatters of het.

I've only even found a tiny bit of slash, but mostly it's Cid/Hope or Snow/Hope or, weirdly, Hope/Maqui. *shrug* Even Cid/Rygdea isn't as popular as I thought it'd be...

Cid/Rygdea is one of my favorite ships ever. Seriously. They work together and there's all the angst at the end of the game and UNF. Yes. It pings all my buttons, all at once. djfdkfdkfjdkjf

You know, it took me a REALLY long time to find an FF icon that expressed any sort of exuberance.

Final Fantasy: very good at making emotionally fucked-up bad asses, not good at much else.

You should play FFIX. Zidane was an upbeat badass. He was the reason I never really liked Tidus. Zidane was a classic womanizing thief who fell for the princess and was just a sweetheart underneath it all. And he was a BAMF.

You know, on that recommendation alone, I think I will play FFIX.

Kinda. Except way, way less of a jerk. I'd recommend it. It's not the most popular by FF standards, but frankly, I think it's one of the best. It has a really good story and the characters have a depth that a lot of the Final Fantasies missed (VIII and XIII, I'm looking at you).

There wasn't a single main in IX who was there just to be there, even the gag character, Quina. And the story was complex without being the cluster fuck of Tactics or XII, and it was so much more subtle than XIII ever was.
